It seems as though every time I announce that I am going on vacation people always asks why do I go on vacation. That question in itself boggles me because I do not find a reason not to go on vacation. Then I am stuck to explain to this person why I go on vacation. Crazy?! Right?! But, it made me think that people have never been on vacation or even outside of their own city or state. I encourage my friends and family to travel. So below I have compiled my top 5 reasons to travel.
1. See how other people live
Especially when I travel within the US, I love to see how and where other people live. I may stay in a hotel, but I like walking through the neighborhood and catching public transportation. Somethings may surprise you and some may turn you off but rest assured I am usually glad to say I had the experience.
2. Restructure my view on life
When traveling to some of these developing countries and realize what their normal is, you begin to form a different view on life. I begin to realize that living a life of material wealth is not as important as having meaningful experiences with people who enhance your mental wealth.
3. Get away from everyday life
We are so wrapped up in our day to day hustle that we never stop to reflect and just take in life. Going on vacation requires me to do two things: reflect on my quarterly goals and enjoy the sun. I am grateful to have an opportunity to lay on the beach or have a frozen drink at the pool bar. But I also know that having this experience is a result of the hard work I put in throughout the year. It's an opportunity for me to just "live".
4. View history
I am a closet history nut. There I said it! I take an entire trip every year to view history. Being able to see tangible remnants of the past civilizations and to walk and see sights that rival any modern building in any US city. It is truly like watching live porn, LOL!
5. Bragging rights
And of course, I want the bragging rights! I love to be able to compare notes with others who have visited the same places I have. And who knows, I may even get amazing tips about another location on my travel schedule. I also have one many contests just because I travel.
